Sonya Taylor Moore

Sharing art with young people is my passion, and I truly believe it’s also my purpose.

My career began in 2013 when I opened The Yellow Canary, a small art studio for children in Basalt, Colorado. This was a happy space where children 18 months to 12 years old gathered for craft making and storytelling.  Next, I was the children’s director at Anderson Ranch Arts Center, then taught art at a Montessori elementary school. In 2017, I started working at Powers Art Center, where I am now the Museum Director. I’ve created the children’s educational programming, as well as a family learning lab and summer art camp. In addition to children’s programming, I am head curator of all exhibitions.
